Overview

I’ve written on subjects as varied as why female film directors are less likely to be nominated for an Oscar; the history of Japanese music and the whimsical joy of IKEA’s The Wonderful Everyday ads.

I've also created marketing campaigns, newsletters and album descriptions.

The brief

Creating long-form, 'skyscraper' articles, including links to other articles on the site and music playlists to showcase the breadth of the music that Audio Network has to license.

The content needs to tie back into the theme of music wherever possible, and to provide stats and research to position Audio Network as an expert voice within the industry.

To drive SEO, keywords are suggested on the brief, plus I need to find and include suitable video content and write the meta-descriptions.

Results

Here are links to my recent/best-performing articles:

The History of Japanese Music - originally written to capitalise on the interest in Japanese music around the Tokyo Olympics, this has been the No 1 article almost continually since it was created, and remains the top Google result for the search term.

Latin Music Genres - another great SEO-driver, this article has stayed in the top 3 pages since publishing in May 2020, with an average dwell time of 8 minutes.

Women's History Month - extraordinary female activists in music.

Wednesday - a breakdown of the hit Netflix show and its soundtrack.

50 Years of Hip Hop History - the genre's origins and influence.

A History of Women in Music - looking at gender inequality in the music industry, and revolutionary female artists.
