Collingwood of Somerset are a female-owned, UK-based candle brand, who launched in January 2020.
I wrote all the web copy, the label copy for the back of the candles and the descriptions on-site, together with promotional newsletters and occasional profile/Q&A pieces for magazines.
The label and web copy I created reflects Collingwood's brand, which harnesses the essence of the English countryside, from the woods to the garden, sparkling streams to the coast. The writing style is lyrical, evocative and focuses on both the upmarket aspects, and the fact that it's an independent, family-owned UK brand.
Since its launch, Collingwood's candles have featured in magazines as varied as Elle, Stylist, Country Life, House and Gardens, Hello! and Good Housekeeping.
In its first year, Collingwood were shortlisted for two major awards at the Fragrance Foundation, going up against industry giants such as Jo Malone and Diptyque.

Copywriting
Tile and Floor are an independent interiors company, based in Bath.
They were launching a new e-commerce site, and wanted a variety of 'how to' articles, demonstrating their products, how they can be used, and the expertise of their in-house design team.

Product descriptions were also required for all their stock, with two lengths of copy for each product.
I also managed the creative for the brand's Instagram/Facebook posts on a freelance basis.
The purpose of the product copy is to give an inspiring description, together with ideas of locations in which it can be used, and advising on which decor/trend styles it best suits.
The 'how to' articles are short-form, aiming to get as much topline information across as possible, and prompting the reader to get in touch with the Tile and Floor team for more information and advice on choosing and using their products.
For the brand's social presence, the copy was a mix of 'how to' ideas, linking through to the site's articles, case studies and trends - together with choosing the visuals from the brand's library of flat-lays and project shots.
